MGN Astin reporting in for the Hammer\\\'s Fist on May 2nd, 2010.

Firstly, I\\\'d like to remind DLs and SOC members that reports are due now! COL Xantros submitted his during the week and Aija had some RL issues so they are both excused for now. However, I expect to see reports from both of these offices by next Sunday!

I set up a Call of Duty 4 server earlier this week, configured to run the Galactic Warfare mod. For server information and instructions on how to install the mod, read this thread: http://eh.stryfe.net/viewtopic.php?f=77&t=1506

In order to get some use out of this server, I\\\'ve set up the following event:

The Prefect\\\'s office is introducing a new event, Field Training Exercises (FTX). An FTX is an event that can occur once per week per gaming platform. It is a set of open matches that anyone can join in on, and Hammer\\\'s Fist members will also be eligible for applicable awards!

As you will see over the next couple days, I am rolling out to new (and updated) medals specifically for multiplayer members: the Combat Action Ribbon (CAR) (w/ attachments) and the Star of Valor (SoV) (w/ attachments. The CAR will be given to every member who participates in an official Hammer\\\'s Fist multiplayer match. The SoV will be given to the overall top player of a match. Hammer\\\'s Fist members who participate in FTXs will be eligible for these awards.

I am organizing our first FTX for Call of Duty 4: Galactic Warfare on Saturday, May 8th immediately following the 12PM (Eastern) Emperor\\\'s Hammer weekly IRC meeting. The event will last between 30 minutes and an hour depending on turnout. I will be in the server for at least 30 minutes following the meeting. When you join the server, be sure to be using a profile that has an EH tag and your EH or HF name (example: EH_Astin) so that you can be properly credited for your participation.

I invite everyone who owns Call of Duty 4 to download the mod and attend the FTX! I also invite anyone who owns either Battlefront II or Battlefield 2142 to talk to me about organizing an FTX for those platforms as well.

I\\\'m in the process right now of updating the manual with the new medals. The manual should be 100% updated by Monday. I\\\'ll make a forum post once it\\\'s finished so that you can review the new and updated medal systems.

I\\\'m rather impressed with the activity of the Operation Mongoose runon thread. The VPRF has kept this thread open longer than he had planned due to the interest it has received. Nice work everyone! I am told, however, that there are no submissions in any of the other categories.. I recommend you all check these other categories out and gain some extra points for the chance to win a better medal!
