Weekly report for 12-11-04

Greetings Troopers,

This is my first report as Exectuive Officer, so I think it's as good a place as any to get down to business. I'm not one to mince words, so I'll give it to you straight. The HF is in a bad way at the moment, and will need some serious work from everyone around here to get back up and running. I mean really folks, the HF is doing worse then the IW for gosh sakes, and I don't think we can allow this to go on. Much of the blame lies on the leadership of the HF, including myself, who in recent weeks haven't generated much in the way of activity possibilities for the HF. This will change, simple as that. Janson and I have a plan of action to attack our weaknesses, and are implementing them as we speak.

Now I know that many people who have heard tell of this restructuring have been grumbling about it under (or some not quite so under) their breath. Thoughts of "Another PRF, another meaningless restructring" have I'm sure occured to more then some of you. And my response to that is this: we have a method behind our madness that is motivated directly from activity, not just from the idea of "Because we can". The HF hasn't been organized as well as it could have been to promote unit level activities in the past, so we're going to make it better. To that end, the PRG and that STC (or whatever) are things of the past. Activity will be promoted directly at the unit level, and not at some secondary semi-elite level. Also, as the HF has to contend with the Gaming and Role Playing aspets of it's character, units and therefore activites will be structured along activity lines. (think something simmilar to the DB's orders) This was the purpose of those MP and RP division mail addresses that were set up, that you should have mailed to.

Speaking of that, those troopers that haven't already made the descision which division they are going to be a part of should mail either mpdivision@lusankya.org or rpdivision@lusankya.org. That's one or the other folks, not both. Those that do not send to one or the other address will be considered AWOL and moved to the lovely Homeguard. The troops that have already responded are as follows (in no particular order):

In the coming days you will all see more of the details of this new plan for the HF as the finishing touches are put on them. This will include a new Field Manual with a new layout. Our old FM is, for lack of a better term, older then dirt. It's a tad out of date, and in my time as CT I began work on an updated version. It will reflect a few other changes beyond the new divisions, the easiest to highlight being rank. Two ranks, namely High Colonel and Sergeant Major of the Legion will be removed. HC because it is superflous really, and SML because the idea of SML comes from Sergeant Major of the Army and the like, which is more a position then anything else. The "(rank) of the (army/navy/etc)" is the single highest ranked enlisted person in the armed forces, and therefore isn't really a rank that anyone can earn. With the rank of SML being removed, another rank is being thrown into the enlisted progression between SSG and MSG, the rank of GSG, or "Gunnery Sergeant". The affect of this will be that anyone below the rank of SSG will be unaffected, and MSG's will become GSG's, and and those above MSG will be the rank "below" where they are now. Just to clarify, this is not a grade reduction, just a restructuring of the rank names only.

MEETINGS
We're going to bring back the HF weekly meeting, but most likely just once a week. The time will be discussed by the General Staff and you get to find out once we make the decision.
